Rules Of Train Ticket Refund

The rule of refunding train tickets has been in place for a long time. Some rules have been changed in the matter of train ticket refunds some time ago. Previously, a full refund was given if the ticket was returned 5 days prior to travel.

You can submit your ticket online or at the ticket counter within 6 hours of departure. However, if there are less than 6 hours left before the departure of the train, you will not be able to refund the ticket.

So to submit the ticket online or at the ticket counter you must return the train ticket within six hours or more if you want to return the train ticket. Arrange for same-day returns as soon as possible.

Refund Charges for Train Ticket In Bangladesh

The new rules for online train ticket refunds have been introduced from March 1, 2023, by revising all the rules and policies that existed before. Along with this, the online ticketing facility has been introduced.

If you return the ticket 48 hours prior to the journey, TK 40 or 10% of the total ticket price whichever is higher will be deducted from your ticket price.

25% of the fare will be deducted from the ticket price if returned 24 hours before departure, 50% will be deducted if the ticket is returned 12 hours before departure and 75% of the fare will be deducted if returned 6 hours before departure.

And if the departure time is less than 6 hours, you cannot refund the ticket. Follow the below-given policy for ticket return of both E-ticket and physical ticket.

Refund Policy for E-Ticket/Online Ticket

The e-ticket refund amount depends on the time of cancellation. If you cancel your e-ticket more than 48 hours before your train’s scheduled departure time, you are entitled to a full refund of your ticket price.

Refunds for e-tickets will be made using the same payment method used to make the reservation. It may take a few days for the refund to appear in your account, depending on your payment gateway and bank’s processing times.

If your train is canceled or delayed for more than 3 hours and you have an e-ticket, you can request a refund online through the Bangladesh Railways website or mobile app. Refunds will be made according to the above refund amount and method.

The refund amount for physical tickets also depends on when the cancellation is made. If you cancel your physical ticket more than 48 hours before your train’s scheduled departure, you are entitled to a full refund of your ticket price. Note that, no refunds will be given if canceled after 4 hours of departure time.
