Titas Gas Project Details
When the Titas Gas Company was formed, 90% of the shares were owned by the then government and 10% by the Shell Oil Company. By a nationalization order of 1972, ownership of the said amount of shares in all government-owned companies was vested in the Government of Bangladesh.
The remaining 10% shares were transferred to government ownership through Petrobangla on 9 August 1975 under an agreement between the Government of Bangladesh and the Shell Oil Company for a payment of 1 lakh pounds-sterling.
After independence in 1971, the company was initially converted into a public limited company with an authorized and paid-up capital of Tk 1.78 crore and placed under the state-owned Petrobangla. Currently, the authorized and paid-up capital of the company is Tk 2,000.00 crore and Tk 989.22 crore, respectively.
