History of Bangabandhu Military Museum
The history of the Bangabandhu Military Museum is vast and extensive. The Bangabandhu Military Museum has been developed as an information repository to learn about the Bangladeshi military’s history, traditions, and various activities.
The earlier name of this museum was Bangladesh Military Museum. But after going through various detours, it was named Bangabandhu Military Museum.
In 1987, the first military museum was established at the cantonment entrance in Mirpur, Dhaka. But later, considering the visitors, the Military Museum was shifted to Victory Memorial in 1999 and renamed Bangladesh Military Museum.
Later in 2020, the Bangladesh Armed Forces Department took the initiative to renovate and modernize the Bangladesh Military Museum.
The Bangabandhu Military Museum is built on 10 acres of land on the western side of the Bangabandhu Novo theater, where various military equipment before and after independence are presented.
The museum has six separate sections with galleries designated for the Bangladesh Army, Navy, and Air Force, and each force’s gallery has a Bangabandhu Corner.
It has an art gallery, multipurpose exhibition gallery, briefing room, souvenir shop, first aid corner, open stage, 3D cinema hall, multipurpose hall, seminar hall, library, archive, sculpture, mural, cafeteria, light fountain, and vast open space. Nandan Institute has been established.
